Fancy Pants App: Shrimp Cocktail with Bloody Mary Sauce

This time last year, we were preparing ourselves to go to Charleston!  Up until a week ago, we had no trips on our calendar for 2014 except for 1 big family trip that we're taking in July.  And, yes, I'm absolutely psyched about that trip.  But, there's something exciting about planning a trip with each other that I have really been anxious to do!  I kept trying to convince John that my birthday (only 4 weeks away now), was a great chance to go away.  He did not agree. 

Then, I tried to convince him that we should go to Iceland.  No, only 1 cold place a year, he said to me.  Then Greece which for some reason, didn't take off either.  What a frugal man my boyfriend has turned into!  It's totally my fault since I've been frantically saving to reach my 30-year-old goal (only 2 years and 4 weeks left!!!) but sometimes you still want to take time out to have some fun. Where is all this leading?  Well, I decided if I couldn't go someplace fun, I'd make foods from someplace fun.  This shrimp cocktail brings me back to our fun weekend in Charleston with delicious food and friends. 

And just as I resolved that we might not go away this year, I got a call from my boss telling me to get on a plane next week...I've been working for the past few months on our international assets but didn't imagine I was going to be there anytime soon.  So at this time next week, I'll be in Paris!  Working, but still...PARIS!  And I even got John to tag along for the weekend!  Turns out that my birthday month will be pretty special after all!
Shrimp Cocktail with Bloody Mary Sauce
Serves:  2 (12 shrimp, 1 cup cocktail sauce)
Bloody Mary Sauce:1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons horseradish
3 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
1 tablespoon tabasco
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 tablespoon celery salt
1/2 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper

Shrimp Cocktail:
12 fully-cooked shrimp, chilled

To make the sauce, combine ketchup, horseradish, worchestershire sauce, tabasco sauce, and lemon juice.  Stir in celery salt and pepper.  Serve immediately with shrimp.
